Written in the Raindrops: Doodlebug Vellum Love

Hellooooo and good morning! Court from Court's Crafts here with some vellum love inspiration for you!!

I got my inspiration for this card here. It is where the idea for heart shaped clouds came from.

I needed some more thank you cards and couldn't find a spot for the sentiment that I liked. I gave up on it for the night and slept on it and then remembered the cute cloud with the rainbow drops that I had been wanting to use from the Springtime line. Then Teensy Type came to mind and I thought - why not put the sentiment in the raindrops! I got super excited! :)

This may be one of my favorite cards that I have made recently! TIP: I cut the vellum and sugar coated cardstock hearts twice - one out of white cardstock and the other from the sugar coated cardstock and vellum. That way they would be thick and I could put foam dimensional tape behind them to pop them off without it showing through the vellum. The white dot vellum is adhered behind the clouds. :)

Of course that little bird has been on my mind to use. Isn't he/she just the cutest!?!

The background just needed a little something so I thought - more vellum!!! I cut a white cloud with my die cutting machine, added a stitching row to anchor the card and voila!

Imaginisce - Memorial Day Theme

*This was up on the Imaginisce blog a little while ago but I didn't want to post it as my friend hadn't gotten her cards yet! Silly mail! :)

I know - I know… This doesn’t appear like a Memorial Day inspired set of cards - but it is!

My best friend Kourtni (yes, my best friend and I share the same name) is a doctor in the Air Force and is a single mom. She is about to be deployed again but this time she cannot take her kids with her. In the spirit of Operation Write Home, I made these two cards for her to send home to her kids (boy;4 and a girl; 2). I’ll be sending them in a care package for her.

The Little Princess line isn’t just for little girls - it makes darling boys cards too! :) Don’t be afraid to think outside the box with your patterned papers.

I loved this little pop of pink for both hearts in the love you bubbles.

I am loving the card stock neutrals from American Crafts. I used them for all the solid colors - and those mists - so fun!

I hope you enjoyed my post for today and please remember that some of these soldiers have kids at home and the next time you participate in Operation Write Home, think about what they would want to receive. :)

Supply List:
Imaginisce: Patterned Papers (Little Princess)
Studio Calico: Mister Huey’s (Hey Diddle Diddle and Opaque White)

American Crafts: Cardstock Neutrals

Other Supplies:
Xyron adhesives
Silhouette Cameo
Giraffe Cut File
Love You Cut File (came with the Silhouette Cameo)

Doodlebug Sprinkles Love: Sequin Rattle Embellishments

Around here it's babies babies babies and I am loving it but it has me constantly reaching for baby cards! I needed a few more in my stash and since we just found out my cousin is having a BOY then I made this one for her. :)

So... every time I saw someone fill a shaker with sequins I thought they were CRAZY for the amount of product they used (I am a sequin hoarder... I have issues)... let me say - it doesn't even dent the amount of sequins in those bottles. Do it. It's darling.

Just to show you how thick it is: I cut the rattle 8 times and chose to cut acetate for both the front and the back so you could see through it. See that little black dot? That's actually a little piece of glitter! haha. sneaky sneaky little thing. I used my Xyron 9" Creative Station to put the pieces through to make the process faster.

Did you know that Doodlebug has stickers that say, "it's a boy" and "it's a girl"? Doodlebug. makes. life. easy. :) They come in black and white as well.

I was going to cut the handles out of a different color but instead I just chose sequins of a different color. So fun! It gave them some extra sparkle and weight. I used my Xyron Teresa Collins Liquid Adhesive to attach the sequins.

Here are the little gems (pun intended) all finished. I added two of the fancy frills that were part of these collections to the left side and sewed around the border. Then I just used the sentiment stickers to finish them off! I kept them simple to show off the rattles and what fun they are in person!

Aren't these papers from snips and snails - and - sugar and spice so darling.?.

Thanks for reading and I cannot wait to see what you do with your Doodlebug sequins!!!

Art Anthology, Basically Bare, and May Arts

Hello and welcome to the Art Anthology, Basically Bare AND May Arts Ribbonista's Hop!!!

Let me just say that I am not a "mixed media" person exactly but I wanted to challenge myself. I was excited that this would allow me to play with some goodies that many of my crafty friends love! I had a great time!

Here is my finished project. It's a DT journal so that I can put 6x6 sheets of paper in it and remember a: what my projects are and when they are do and b: what my ideas on them were and inspiration! With two tiny humans, yes I need this!

I used an Um Wow Studio Star Confetti Stencil and the Art Anthology dimensional crystals to create this fun effect! The outlines of the stars were actually caused by my not cleaning the stencil and just moving it down and retaping it... I didn't put anything in that star space but I had before I moved it so it had some left over paint. I love it!

Leaf ribbon: love. Don't forget to cut it off it's string for this fun effect and texture!

Last tip: I covered the sun with some chevron ribbon. :) I ran it through my Xyron 5" sticker maker with permanent adhesive to make this a snap. Then I covered it with the ribbon and cut around the rays. For the center parts, I tucked them in back and adhered them with tape.

I hope you enjoyed my first real mixed media piece! I know it's not uber professional but I love it and will enjoy using it for my assignments. LUCKILY for YOU the REAL mixed media MASTER is my hopping partner today! Check out DeeDee Catron's project!
